EC Lamprechtshausen: Silver for Dutch U25 team

Friday, September 1, 2017
Lamprechtshausen, Austria

It’s from one European Championship to another for the busy coach Alex van Silfhout. This time his U25 riders were riding for the European titles, in Lamprechtshausen, Austria.

Today was the team test and for a long while Germany and The Netherlands were equally as good. Jeanine Nieuwenhuis rode TC Athene to 69,368%, Maxime van der Vlist and Bailey scored 70,947% and Denise Nekeman & Boston STH gathered 73,026%. In the end the Dutch lost the gold to the Germans, despite the good score of 74,500% by last rider Anne Meulendijks and MDH Avanti.

The circumstances were not ideal. Bad weather and heavy rain created puddles to form in the arena, causing tension for some horses, amongst them the Dutch as well. “On a championship like this you need a little luck as well, which we did not have today”, team trainer Alex explains. “Silver is wonderful, but these tests were not their best ones. That offers prospect for the coming days.” Tomorrow the battle for the individual medals continues.
