The stable of van Silfhout is situated in the Drieëenhuizerweg in Lunteren and has been expanded in the last couple of years into a fantastic training and competition facility.
The complex includes a 60x20 indoor arena and a 60x20 outdoor with an ebb and flow drainage system and achterberg surface. There is also a seperate lunging circle and 6 horse covered walker.
There are forty-five stables in total in the seperate barns. The stables in the hallway and the outdoor stables are the oldest stables of the complex. The six stallion stables are situated in the old barn next to the house. This provides a quiet environment for the stallions, who are then not distracted by the mares. In January 2007 eighteen new stables were built. These stables are in a new building and are large and light and next to the indoor arena.
The grooming facilities include a large washing area and a solarium. The new stables have four washing areas and a separate solarium. All wash areas are facilitated with hot and cold water. The horses stand on a porous rubber flooring, so that the water can drain away easily.
The stable also has a seperate area for the farrier, so that he can shoe the horses in peace and quiet.
A huge new saddle room has been recently added. There is also a stud room including phantom horse and a laboratory. The stud room and the laboratory are certificated and are being used to take sperm from the stallions at our stable. Four paddocks have been created next to the new stables, two of which have been specifically built for the stallions. There are also five meadows for the horses, so that all the horses can go out in the summer
Above the stallion stables is a guesthouse, which houses a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and two bedrooms. This guesthouse is being used by trainees and riders who are staying for more days to train at stable van Silfhout.
Of course the riders, who compete in a enormous amount of National and International competitions, need a top spec lorry. The MAN truck (with air suspension) can carry 5 horses. There is a full living with running water, a kitchen, a satellite TV, a DVD-player, air-conditioning and sleeping accommodation for five people. Beside that there is also a toilet, shower and wash area on board. |
